Dragons, mermaids, unicorns -- and other beasts too odd or terrifying to name-- have been celebrated in art, song and storytelling for thousands of years. In conjunction with this summer's temporary exhibition and with help from the Louisville Zoo, we will figure out how legends of these fantastical creatures came to be.

 

Camp Sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an option of extended care.

 

Need a little extra time? Frazier Museum Summer Camp offers an extended care option from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. During this post-camp "chill out" time, children enjoy camp-themed movies, books and simple art projects, all under the supervision of paid summer staff. Campers are in for a royally good time in this camp, co-taught by Frazier Museum and Speed Art Museum staff. Through art activities, tournament games, music, dance, and a sword lesson or two, campers will go beyond the tales of make-believe and discover true medieval stories.

From proud knights and their noble ladies to revolting peasants and dangerous outlaws, the Middle Ages had it all! We'll get to know these colorful characters, as we wear their clothes, eat their food, sing and dance their songs and dances - and learn how to wield a bow and arrow!
